Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts Addition
Bockstael has been working with the St. James Kiwanis group for over 10 years, constructing four successful phases of new 3-storey wood-frame construction apartments on Sinawik Bay. The Metropolitan Kiwanis group is closely associated with the St. James group, having many common board members.
The Metropolitan project involves three distinct additions to the existing seniors assisted living facility. Two of these are residential additions, located at opposing ends of the site, each of which are 3 storeys and comprised of load-bearing masonry and hollowcore construction, totalling 78 new living units. The third addition is for a new entry, vestibule, kitchen, and dining hall. An advanced tender was conducted for the fire protection system, which required extensive renovations and tie-ins within the existing building. Bockstael conducted investigatory and planning with the fire protection trade to ensure as little disruption as possible to ongoing operations.
