CCA welcomes Joe Wrobel as chair of its 2020-21 board of directors

OTTAWA, April 14, 2020 — The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is pleased to announce that Joe Wrobel was elected chair of the 2020-21 Board of Directors on March 18, 2020.

A 32-year veteran of the industry, Wrobel is the president and general manager of the JPW group of companies (JPW Road and Bridge Inc., JPW Earthworks Inc. and Traction Innovations Ltd.). The companies, located in the North Okanagan area of British Columbia, are committed to providing high quality, cost effective, safe and environmentally conscious highway and bridge infrastructure construction and maintenance.

Wrobel joined the CCA Board of Directors in 2011 and chaired its governance working group in 2018-2019, which was instrumental in ushering in a new era of streamlined governance for the association. He has also served on the executive and board of the BC Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association, the BC Construction Safety Alliance, and the BC transportation career development association, transCDA.

In his address to members at the annual general meeting, Wrobel articulated his focus for the association over the next year. “I believe that our industry is only as strong as the relationships we have built with our local and provincial construction associations,” said Wrobel. “Working collaboratively with our partner associations to strengthen the services provided to members is essential to broadening membership and driving member value.”

Starting his term at the same time the nation is grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, Wrobel is already demonstrating his commitment to member engagement. The Board of Directors has been meeting frequently to facilitate real time sharing of best practices to ensure the safety of workers, their families and communities, while aligning on federal advocacy. In addition, CCA has implemented its new governance structure and has engaged with its five new advisory councils to provide timely feedback on helping the industry navigate COVID-19.
